ESAs to issue recommendations on the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulations application

ESAs Joint Committee including ESMA, EBA and EIOPA published on 25 February 2021 a joint supervisory statement related to the application of the Regulation on sustainability-related disclosures. The main objective of this statement is to achieve an effective and consistent application across all EU Member States.

In this context, ESAs wish to mitigate the risk of divergent applications of SFDR Regulation between 10 March 2021 until the date at which all or part of the RTS (Regulatory Technical Standards) will come into force.

The European Commission stated that the application of the RTS will be delayed ; ESAs Joint Committee suggested the 1 January 2022 providing therefore additional time to financial market participants and financial advisers

ESAs also provide an annex to the joint supervisory statement reminding different timelines applying to specific provisions of the SFDR, the TR and the related RTS.
